Why would I leave my money in cash?

You can hold your money in cash and choose your investments later. If you want to withdraw money immediately, the amount you want to withdraw needs to be available in your account as cash, with no transactions pending.

Please note, you also need cash to pay for any charges and investments may be sold to cover a charge if cash is not available.

Ready made funds

Let's start by finding the right fund for you to invest in.

Step 1: Choose your fund type

You can invest in a growth or income fund. If you choose a growth fund, then you choose your risk level too. Whatever you pick, your money goes into funds with responsibility built-in (Help?)

How do they work?

Growth and income funds invest in similar assets – such as bonds, company shares, property and cash. Growth funds aim to increase the value of your investments, so you can potentially sell for a profit in the future. Meanwhile, income funds aim to give you a regular income.

Remember, the value of your investment can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than the amount paid in.

Our charges

Fund Manager Charge of 0.73%

This charge is levied by the fund management company to cover the costs and expenses of managing the fund and appears as an Ongoing Charge Figure (OCF) on your statement. This charge is incorporated into the price of the fund rather than being taken out of your account.

Aviva Charge of 0.40% (maximum)

This is what we charge each year for administering your account. It's calculated daily and taken from the cash account monthly. We calculate this charge based on the value of your investment. Here's how it works:

First £50,000 0.40%
Next £200,000 0.35%
Next £250,000 0.25%
Amounts above £500,000 0.00%

Here's what the charges come to in total each year. This is equivalent to approximately £0.94 each month for each £1,000 held.

What does this fund invest in?

The manager of this fund invests in a variety of different assets (such as shares of companies, cash/money markets) to generate either growth or income. Below you can see the fund’s current make-up.

Asset Allocation
Shares 36.32 %
Bonds 60.17 %

Cash 1.4 %
Other 1.61 %

Accurate as at 31/12/2020.

36.32 % Shares

A share represents a financial interest in a company listed on a stock exchange. Because they can go up and down in value, shares are riskier than most other investments. But they also usually offer the greatest chance for higher returns over the longer term.

60.17 % Bonds

Issuing bonds is a way in which companies and governments borrow money. They include UK Government bonds, sovereign bonds/debt, UK corporate bonds and international bonds.

0.5 % Property

Property includes direct investment in physical property (such as office blocks and retail outlets) and indirect investment through property related shares.

1.4 % Cash / Money Markets

Cash includes short-term deposits (such as a bank or building society account) and money-market securities. These are investments that governments, major banks and other institutions issue to generate interest.

1.61 % Other

This covers other types of investments, such as investment trusts, alternative trading strategies and exchange-traded funds.

Accurate as at 31/12/2020. Asset allocations are indicative only and subject to change. They rely on the classification of holdings into bandings that will not always be a perfect fit. They should not be relied upon as an exact record of historic fund diversification and do not indicate any guarantee of future asset and fund allocations.
